Sarah Palin courted fresh controversy with a personal attack on US presidential candidate Barack Obama at the weekend.
According to the Independent, vice presidential nominee Palin confirmed her status as the Republican Party's "chief attack dog" by suggesting that Obama would pander to terrorists if he won next month's election.
Due to the storm of publicity surrounding the Alaska governor, Paddy Power offers 10/1 on her being dropped from the ticket as John McCain's running mate.
With Obama holding a slight lead in the latest opinion polls, the bookmaker has installed the Democrat candidate as favourite to win the election at 2/9, while McCain can be backed at 3/1.
Meanwhile, Ladbrokes prices Obama at 5/4 and makes McCain a 6/1 bet.
Speaking to Republican supporters in Colorado on Saturday, Palin claimed that Obama could be guilty of "palling around with terrorists" and also played up his links with Bill Ayers, an extreme left-wing activist from Chicago.
It also emerged today that a group of state employees have agreed to testify against the governor over an alleged abuse of power in Alaska.
