Andy Murray began his bid for a third straight ATP Masters title by convincingly beating American Sam Querrey 6-2, 6-4 in Paris yesterday.
The second-round victory - Murray received a bye in the first round - sets up a clash with Spain's Fernando Verdasco, who lost to the British number one in the St Petersburg Open semi-finals last week.
Wrapping up his 13th consecutive win in the match against Querrey, Murray's superb form means the Scot is well-backed at the bookmakers.
Betfred makes him 7/2 third favourite to clinch the title at the Paris Masters, which counts both Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski as former champions.
Murray is 1/10 with Paddy Power to win this afternoon's match against Verdasco, who can be backed for an upset at 5/1.
Meanwhile, Ladbrokes makes the 21-year-old 6/1 to lose the first set and go on to beat his Spanish opponent.
Paddy Power currently rates Murray's chances of becoming Wimbledon champion in 2009 at 6/1, with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal joint favourites at 13/8.
