Derbyshire keen to shed 'super sub' tag
Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince could hand Matt Derbyshire a rare starting role in tonight's Carling Cup encounter with Everton.

The 22-year-old striker was praised by his manager after coming off the bench to score Rovers' winning goal against Fulham at Ewood Park last weekend.

Derbyshire has since expressed his desire to start more frequently for his hometown club, although he acknowledged that the recent addition of Robbie Fowler to the Blackburn squad has increased competition.

"I'm always ready to start but it's up to the manager," Derbyshire said after the Fulham game.

Whether on the field from the start or named as a substitute, the England under-21 international is 6/1 with Boylesports to open the scoring against Everton, while Fowler is a 13/2 bet.

Ladbrokes rates Rovers at 9/1 to be the top scoring side in tonight's Carling Cup third-round ties, with Everton available at 12/1.

Aston Villa and Manchester City are joint favourites in that particular betting market, as they face lower-league opposition in the shape of Queens Park Rangers and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.
