Bookies taking Bond bets
The imminent release of new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace has seen bookmakers offer a variety of bets on the much-loved film franchise.

With Daniel Craig making his second appearance as 007 following 2006's Casino Royale, William Hill makes the actor 5/2 to feature in a total of eight Bond films - more than either Sean Connery or Roger Moore.

The betting firm has also opened a book on the next actor to play Bond, with rising star Henry Cavill the current favourite at 3/1, Ewan McGregor a 12/1 bet and Robbie Williams available at 100/1.

"We took nearly £50,000 on the next Bond market last time round and could see that record broken this time," said William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams.

Meanwhile, Paddy Power is accepting bets on another iconic screen character - Doctor Who.

Paterson Joseph, who has starred in Casualty, Green Wing and Peep Show, is the current favourite to replace David Tennant at 3/1 after the Scottish actor announced plans to stand down at the end of the year.

Odds of 6/1 are available on James Nesbitt being the next man to play the timelord, with John Simm priced at 8/1 and Richard E Grant a 14/1 bet.
